How Ark Poultry Turns Farm Waste Into Renewable Energy

Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword at Ark Poultry Farm — it’s built into how we handle every part of our operation, including waste. What used to be treated as a disposal problem is now one of our most valuable resources, powering parts of our farm and enriching the soil we depend on.

Turning Waste Into Power

Poultry droppings are rich in organic matter, which makes them an excellent feedstock for biogas production. Our on-site biodigesters break this waste down and capture the methane it releases, which we then use to generate clean energy for parts of our farm operations. Benefits of this system include:

  • Reduced reliance on grid electricity and diesel generators
  • Lower greenhouse gas emissions from untreated waste
  • A cleaner, better-smelling farm environment for our birds and workers

Closing the Loop: From Waste to Fertilizer

The solid by-product left over after biogas extraction doesn’t go to waste either. We compost it into a nutrient-rich organic fertilizer that goes straight back into the soil used to grow feed crops — completing a full circle from farm, to feed, to flock, and back again.

Cutting Our Carbon Footprint

By generating our own renewable energy and recycling nutrients on-site, we significantly reduce the carbon footprint of our operations compared to conventional poultry farms. It's a long-term investment that pays off for the environment, our community, and the quality of everything we produce.

Conclusion

Waste-to-energy is just one example of how Ark Poultry is rethinking what a modern poultry farm can look like. We're proud to show that responsible, sustainable farming and efficient production can go hand in hand.
